Lodaidh MacFhionghain is current the Executive Director of Oifis Iomairtean na Gàidhlig (Office of Gaelic Affairs) in Nova Scotia.

Lodaidh is a prolific poet and song-writer. In 2011 the Royal National Mod (held that year in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis) distinguished Lodaidh with the “Bardic Crown,” the first time that the award was given to a non-Scot, for his book Famhair: agus dàin Ghàidhlig eile (Giant: and other Gaelic poems). Another collection, Rudan Mì-bheanailteach is an Cothroman, Dàin : Intangible Possibilities, Poems, has just been released.

He also sings in English, Scottish Gaelic and Irish, and performs regularly as a solo artist and as a member of the East Coast group, the Jug in Hand Band.
